The implications of logging for Arkins Creek and Link Track are:
- The loss of very natural landscapes.
- Contribute to the fragmentation of the Carlisle State Park.
- The construction of new logging roads will open up inaccessible regions
to feral animals and weeds.
- New logging roads will contribute to the deterioration of water quality
in the Gellibrand catchment.
- Clearfell Logging will increase the fire hazards to the areas. A large
fire will cause a dramatic reduction in water yield from the area currently
supplying water to Warrnambool and the dairy industry of South West
Victoria.
- Logging reduces water yield which impacts on low flow of the Gellibrand
over summer when domestic water demand is at its highest.
