    • Barwon Water

Barwon Water suggests that the following arrangements be implemented with respect to the

Otway and Midlands Forest Areas:

- Research should be initiated into the effects of land management practices on water quality

and yield in the Otway catchments.

    • South West Water

Summary of South West Water Positions

1. The current Regional Forest Agreement consultative and investigation process has failed to give due weight to issues of catchment water yield (quantity and quality) and the impact of native forest activities on these issues

2. That the economic value of water has given inadequate focus

3. That South West Water wishes to work co-operatively with Government and the native timber industry in establishing reliable data relating to the above two issues

4. That the final agreement should clearly allow for effective change and response within its proposed time span should the outcomes of better and more authoritative data point to the need for significant changes in native forestry activities in the Otways catchment area.
