West RFA created no new legislated reserves for the Otways

In March 2000 when the West RFA was signed, the State government announced the creation of six permanent reserves in Western Victoria. These were gazetted under the National Parks Act and Crown Lands Reserves Act. These reserves total 17,200 ha and are primarily in non-commercial forest areas.

No permanent legislated reserves were created in the Otway Forest Management Area as a part of the West RFA process.

However in November 2002, the West RFA was cancelled and the Victorian State government adopted new policies to create a new expaned Otway National Park.
