The implications of logging for Arkins Creek and Link Track are:
The loss of very natural landscapes.
Contribute to the fragmentation of the Carlisle State Park.
The construction of new logging roads will open up inaccessible regions
to feral animals and weeds.
New logging roads will contribute to the deterioration of water quality
in the Gellibrand catchment.
Clearfell Logging will increase the fire hazards to the areas. A large
fire will cause a dramatic reduction in water yield from the area currently
supplying water to Warrnambool and the dairy industry of South West
Logging reduces water yield which impacts on low flow of the Gellibrand
over summer when domestic water demand is at its highest.
